It is seriously hard to believe that it’s been almost a year since I took on my first official interior design project – a condo in Chicago. For this project I created a design plan for the client, sourced furniture and decor and advised on purchases from Atlanta. My client recently sent me a few photos of how she’s put the plan together over the last few months and I thought I’d share them with you.
If you missed the original post about the Chicago Condo project, you’ll want to head on over to this post to get caught up before reading ahead. (so many before pictures!)
The Chicago Condo project isn’t finished–when are we ever really finished designing our homes?!?–but it has definitely been transformed from where we started. Gone is the drab beige that we started with. Now, the space is infused with rich color and fun accents.
These are the colors we went with:
For the condo’s common areas (living room, sunroom, dining/kitchen, hallway) we went with the lightest gray as the wall color. That made the teal really pop as an accent color in the living room. Check it out:
Double Duty Design
This client already had a few pieces of furniture she wanted to reupholster and plenty of decor items. To make the most of the budget she had, we selected items that could do double duty.
The sofa in the main living room pulls out into a bed…
This cocktail table in the client’s sunroom has an adjustable height, so it’s perfect for eating, working, entertaining, etc.
We also added lots and lots of storage via various sets of super chic shelves (including a hallway bookshelf that the client swore won’t work. Here it is in action:
And we made use of the existing shelves she had in her foyer by updating the space and add a large mirror that pulled in the the teal accent color from the rest of the condo.
I think this IKEA coffee table actually turned out to be on of my favorite pieces. The living room in this condo is pretty narrow, so the small table works in the space and the clear glass keeps the view open and interesting.
What do you guys think? Leave me a comment below and let me know how you think it turned out!
